Episode 7: Onward

This summer did not turn out to be the summer we all thought we’d have last school year. But hopefully it hasn’t been all bad! As us students wind down in our summer break and get ready for a new school year, I want to challenge myself and yourselves to be open to whatever it brings. Many of us are going to school in a Hybrid format, some are going back full time, and some are starting out with Distance Learning. Whatever the case, it will be very different from what we used to get ready for at the end of a summer.

But with all that’s happening it’s even more important to have an open mind. It’s not fair that the world is going through Covid, but life unfortunately isn’t fair. What we owe to ourselves is to work around our problems and figure out how to still live our lives! This summer I was going to be at camp for two months but that didn’t happen. So this summer I planned my time day by day. I made plans and was outside a lot! I was even lucky enough to play in a tournament for my favorite sport lacrosse, on the Frog Lax team. Instead of going to pools, I ran through my sprinkler and went to lakes. My dad says I had a summer just like he used to have. Planning it out day by day. But I know not everyone had that type of summer. Many people were home (sometimes not by choice) just sitting around. That’s really hard on our spirit and life force. I told you about my summer because I want to prove that even during COVID, we can make our own fun. The school year will give us stuff to do and hopefully have some connections with people!

Look at the new school year as a challenge you are ready to take on. We can do this. We just have to be open. Our mind is stronger than our body so with an open mind you can handle anything. To the reader: have a fun rest of your summer and good luck with the start of school. 😉

Believe in yourself and have fun!
